Message from the General Secretary - Nizam Ismail

Assalamu Alaikum Warahmathullahi Wabarakathu.

Alhamdulillah, we are in the process of updating our website to promote the service that is being provided by OSMET (UK) and OSMET (SL). The administration and the selection of students for the award of Scholarships are handled by OSMET (SL) Management Committee. They are voluntary workers and I wish to thank them for sacrificing their time and energy to help improve the lives of others and their community.   With the blessings of Almighty Allah, It has been a great honour for me to be able to serve as Honorary General Secretary since 1981 as one of the founder members of OSMET charity. Major funding for OSMET (SL) is provided by OSMET (UK) for the award of Scholarships to needy students in Sri Lanka and part of the funds are being invested, mainly in properties, to generate income to achieve our long term vision. Insha Allah, with the help of Almighty Allah, OSMET eventually expect to be self financed.

I wish to thank all our benefactors for their generous contributions and with their magnanimous support OSMET can help more students to access quality education giving them the skills they need to build better future for themselves and their community. Education is not for the privileged few but for all. We aim to give youngsters who are unable to continue their higher education a chance to learn and without education an entire generation is at risk. In order to enhance our service I wish to remind all those students who have benefited from OSMET Scholarship and are in employment, to show their gratitude in contributing towards OSMET Scholarship fund in helping the younger generation to achieve the status that you have achieved.  May Almighty Allah help OSMET to continue to stride from strength to strength.Aameen.
